Hide Folders On Your PC
Data Security Guard is simple to use, yet very powerful. Hide folders on your PC with only a couple of mouse clicks, even from hackers! Not only is the software very simple to use, the price is unbeatable compared to similar programs in its class. Don't let its low price fool you either and here is why. Once you begin using it you will soon discover numerous features that other programs like it, doesn't offer.
Unless you are an advanced user then I'm going to keep it simple! On the next to last screen during installation please only place checkmarks in these options.
When you first run the software you must allow the software to access the internet!
The first thing you should do after opening the software is set up your options. Click on the options button and choose the options I've chosen in this screenshot. Again, this keeps things simple for the user unless you are an advanced user. If you are an advanced user then you will probably want to check every option.
Be sure and choose a password that's easy for you to remember. If you purchase the software then you will get a free password manager that you can use that will manage all your passwords.
Now it is time to start adding folders that you want to hide and keep secure and hidden. Simply click on the hide button and you will see this screen. Your screen should look similar to this one however, this does depend on what operating system you are running. The XP and Vista operating systems are very similar, Windows 7 will look a little different but not much. I use both Windows 7 and Vista and have noticed very little difference in the two.
Since I only have a single account created on my PC and don't have multiple accounts, then I must locate it and click on it. You can see that I have chosen my account which is my name, Robby.....the account will highlight itself after you click on it.
Please be sure and only choose the account you plan on using to hide folders on. The software can be used system wide and work on every account however, you would need to choose the option to run the software on multiple accounts during installation!
In my screenshot example tutorial, I plan on hiding a folder inside my Pictures folder. You can see that I have scrolled down and highlighted my Pictures folder.
You can see that after I clicked on the Pictures folder that there are multiple folders I could add to hide. I could hide all of them if I wanted, but I'll only add one for now so you can see how it's done. I will choose to hide my Jimi Hendrix Desktop Wallpaper folder, then I must click the OK button.
After adding the folder you can see that it is now showing up in the programs folders screen. Notice how it is reading that the folder is visible, look just to your right and you will see.
Now I want to hide the folder which is very simple. Simple click on the empty box beside the folder which will place a checkmark in the selection, next click the Hide button which will now show the folder as being hidden. Next exit the program and go to your Pictures folder and you will see that the folder you hid is gone.
When you need to access the folder again simply open the software and click on the Show button. Just make sure the folder you are wanting to make visible has a check mark in it before clicking the Show button. This also applies when hiding a folder as well, be sure you remember to place a check mark in it. To remove folders from the programs screen, make sure they are visible, place a check mark in the ones you want to remove, then click on the remove button.
